Rookie Blue

April 14, 2010. For Immediate Release. Brilliant up & coming Winnipeg Pop quartet Quinzy will have their song You & This Terrible Place (from EP These Nautical Miles) featured in the upcoming ABC TV / Global TV premiere of Canadian produced and filmed cop drama Rookie Blue on Thursday, June 24 at 9 p.m. Broadcast in USA & Canada will be simulcast. The 13-part drama, previously titled Copper, is from E1 Entertainment and Thump Inc., and was shot on location in Toronto. The series is about five inexperienced rookies thrown into the world of big city policing and stars Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith (Everwood), Enuka Okuma and Travis Milne.

Quinzy is absolutely thrilled not only to have their song featured in this excellent new show, but are doubly pleased that the show`s producers have chosen them to set the tone for musical style in its premiere episode.

2010: Twenty-Ten

So our very, very short post-holiday hibernation is over... We didn't store enough body-fat and acorns I suppose, so out we come to frolic again within and with the world. Yes, to prevent starvation, but also because we can't help ourselves.

What, then, is up? Many exciting performances coming around the bend, such as the 2nd Annual Manitoba Film and Music showcase at the Centennial Concert Hall, the prestigious and incredibly fun Festival du Voyageur in February (which, I believe, is french for the Festival of Voyagers), and also a couple of gigs at the Olympics in Vancouver. I'm told that this is a popular sporting thingy, so it should be pretty swell.

Please investigate the 'Show' section of this very website for real and pertinent details.

A few more things before we leave you to your happy internet cruising:

- Thanks to the Winnipeg Free Press for the fine review of the whole EP trilogy. Check it out here.

- 'Admit' is continuing it's treacherous and thrilling climb up Mount Kick Top 40, and of course big-ups to current kings of hill, Sons of York.

Wowza! What a weekend that was!
Now as you all tuck yourselves into a warm bed by the fire, and sneak a little brandy in your hot beverage of choice Quinzy wants to send a big thanks to all who came out to the WECC on the 11th and 12th to celebrate Quinzmas with us. Also a big shout out to everyone involved in helping us out this year. We certainly couldn't have done it without a bunch of help. Great job everybody, and have a wonderful and safe holiday season.

Though there isn't any snow in this town yet, that doesn't mean Christmas ain't coming atcha... And what's that riding on Christmas's shoulders like some gleaming golden toddler? Why, it's Quinzmas!

A few years ago the boys from Quinzy decided to throw a holiday bash at the West End. They got some Christmas lights, a tree, some Santa hats, recorded a special song for the occasion, and invited their pals House of Doc to help celebrate the season. It was such a hit that they did it again the next year, and the next after that. Last year it was sold out for two nights at the Park Theatre, and this year we're proud to have the show return to the West End.

Quinzy is set to release their latest EP, "Self-Defense." It's the third installment in a trilogy that began in June 2008 with "One Boy's Guide to the Moon", quickly followed up by "These Nautical Miles" in February 2009. It captures the arc and sound of a brilliant and very hard working band hitting its creative and commercial stride. This year's Quinzmas promises to be bigger, better, and have more stuffing than ever before!

After a perilous night drive shrouded in fog we arrived in Toronto for an action packed week. Thanks to everyone who came out to 'The Supermarket' for my birthday and, I suppose, for the Quinzy show. It was a pleasure reaching an enjoyable level of refreshment with you after the show. Big thanks to the benevolent hot dog vendor who sold us 14 polish sausages at 3am.

Those Lazy Summer Days

So we are home, safer and sounder than ever before, thank you very much. Thanks to all those who kept tabs, commented, and twittered right along with us, and of course big ups to the whole country of Singapore for being such hospitable hosts.

There will be a small mini-series about our triumphs and tribulations (though not necessarily in that order) on MTS On Demand later in autumn. Yes, you will be notified agressively about this when the time comes.

In the meantime, we turn to the finishing of our 3rd EP. The songs are done, the album is named, all that is necessary now is gratuitous heapings of fairie dust and elf sprinkles. Nothing else to say about it for the time being, except that we're really, really excited for you to hear it...

So, how exactly are we spending our summer vacation? Two prime cuts of gigs to tide y'all over:

- August 14, 12PM @ Outdoor stage on Portage and Main
- August 27 @ the Park Theatre w/ Sons of York

And details on both will be forthcoming, but mostly we'll be gigging in your very living room. This summer and autumn we're focusing on House Shows; intimate, semi-acoustic performances for you and all your friends.
